January 2003
The January issue of S&V features Structural Analysis and coverage
for IMAC-XXI. The cover shows the Polar Platform Envisat (PPF/ENVISAT-1) during dynamic qualification
tests. Envisat was launched 3/1/02 by an Ariane 5 launch vehicle into low earth orbit and will be used to
monitor ozone layer depletion over the earth's poles. Within the pages, the editorial describes our love/hate
relationship with technology, while the Observer describes automotive noise control products. A 'mini-feature'
looks at windowing the spectral content of signals. The feature articles include a 20 year review of structural
dynamic modification and estimating modal parameters from operating data.
